Laser Transmission Welding (Clear Joining)
Types of Laser Plastic Welding: Laser Transmission Welding (Clear Joining)
In normal laser plastic welding, one layer needs to be laser-absorbent in order to fuse with the other layer. However, there may be situations whereby both the components are laser-transparent. LPKF's patented ClearJoining procedure allows for two laser-transparent components to be joined without the use of additives, resulting in a clear seam that is aesthetically pleasing, yet permanent and reliable. LPKF TMG 3 is a stable and reliable tool in measuring optical transmission, helps you avoid unnecessary wastage of material.
This procedure overcomes the limits of traditional transmission welding and enables laser light to be absorbed even in clear components.
- Medical technology applications, such as catheters and anus praeter
- Clear/Laser-Transparent components being laser welded together
